Happy holidays from Abenity!
We hope you have the chance in coming days to enjoy the gathering of family, friends and those who are closest to you. And as we wrap up 2009 we want to thank you for being an Abenity member. Its been a fun year and we’ve enjoyed seeing how all of our members have used Abenity to save themselves money!
But beyond the number of discounts and the dollars saved, when we step back, this is what really causes us to celebrate…
This past year Abenity committed itself to serving those living in extreme poverty, and so we partnered with World Vision to sponsor children in Senegal. Today, more than one billion of the world’s children live in poverty on less than $1 per day, robbing them of hope and threatening to steal their future. But World Vision seeks to restore hope for children in the less fortunate communities of the world.
Working with World Vision is such a fun project for us! Over the course of the last year we’ve sponsored 37 children in the city of Niakhar, Senegal, and we’re looking forward to sponsoring more in 2010! We would love for you to meet “our kids” by stopping by the Abenity World Aid page! Being able to dedicate a portion of our business to helping children in need is one of our greatest pleasures at Abenity.
Another project that we’ve committed to in 2010 through World Vision is the provision of a deep well fitted with a hand pump that can provide up to 2,800 gallons of safe water a day to benefit as many as 300 people! In many communities, clean water lies hundreds of feet below layers of hard rock. Children have no choice but to walk long distances to find water that is often dirty and disease-ridden. When the drilling teams strike water, entire villages erupt in celebration because a clean water source can cut a community’s child mortality rate by as much as half.
In this season of “getting” it is such a joy for us to give back and make a difference in the world. Could we encourage you to do the same? If you are financially able, we would love to challenge you to find a way to give back this holiday season… whether it’s through a local charity, a community of worship, or even an international organization like World Vision – there is a lot of need in the world, and together we make a difference when we unselfishly give.
From all of us at Abenity, enjoy your holidays! We wish you safe and happy travels, and we look forward to serving you in 2010!
